It’s no secret that Kakao Talk’s very own emoticons, “Kakao Friends”, are very popular with Koreans. Practically everyone loves using them, so it’s no surprise that seasonal pop-up stores began to sell your favorite characters! Kakao has been experimenting with these stores for a while now and have finally established a permanent store in the Coex mall! I went to the pop-up store near Sinchon Station (신촌역), but will be sure to visit the long-term store soon! You can access the Sinchon pop-up store by going to Sinchon Station and heading towards the Hyundai Uplex. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE THE UNDERGROUND ROUTE. You’ll be on the right track if you see the large Kakao wall and statues. You’ll need to go down a small escalator right next to the wall to get to the store.

The store has more merchandise you can imagine. One of the popular items were figures. The small ones cost a steep 9,000 won, while the larger ones are roughly 30,000 won. I personally like the smaller ones because they’re more accurate to the emoticons that you use on Kakao Talk!
Besides figures, there were pillows, stationery, dolls, cellphone covers, mugs, and other miscellaneous items.

If you’re a big lover of Kakao Friends or know someone who would love some memorabilia, make sure to check it out! You won’t find this stuff on the internet yet, but hopefully they’ll be available soon.
Have you checked out the store yet? What do you think? Leave a comment below!
