Ramen Restaurants in Hongdae: 멘야산다이메 (Menya Sandaime)

Decided to eat some highly rated ramen from Menya Sandaime on a ridiculously stormy day. Despite being an udon/soba guy myself, I’d never pass on a steamy hot bowl of goodness that is ramen. I was pretty excited to give it a shot given all the rave reviews and get rid of the gloomy mood typically associated with storms. I visited the Hongdae location, but they have locations in Itaewon, Jongro and Gangnam as well. Will this ramen live up to the hype? Seoul Cheap Eats: 돈텐동식당 (Japanese Noodles and Rice Bowls)

I have a real weakness for Japanese soup noodles, so it’s not surprising that 돈텐동식당 (Dontendong Shikdang) caught my attention the moment I laid eyes on it. They have a  pretty unpretentious looking storefront, resembling one of those locally owned noodle shops in Japan that I’ve always fantasized about going to since my high school days. Somewhat disappointingly, they’re actually a small franchise, but at least the price seemed reasonable and the pictures outside looked tempting. Japanese Sushi Restaurants in Seoul: 별스시 (Byeol Sushi)

If you’re looking for an amazing Japanese style sushi experience, I high recommend 별스시 (Byeol Sushi). Byeol means “star” and I was left with the impression that I was among the stars after eating here. I had the pleasure of going to this Japanese sushi restaurant after volunteering in Junggok area. It’s in a rather unpopular neighborhood, but it’s totally worth it. You can get there easily by going to Junggok Station (중곡역) and heading out of exit 1.
